"There are some who can live without wild things, and some who cannot." - Aldo Leopold

Our Trackers

The extraordinary skills of our trackers alone, is reason enough to hunt with SMJ Safaris. These are the legendary bushmen, first inhabitants of southern Africa, and famous for their ability to live off the land.

The San, as they are scientifically known, are traditional hunter-gatherers, with little or no interest in agriculture or livestock. Their tracking and stalking skills, along with an intimate understanding of nature and animal behaviour, make them supreme hunters. The menfolk traditionally hunt with bows and poisoned arrows, often augmented with a throwing stick for smaller animals and a spear for dangerous game.

As a living link with a primitive past, they have been the subject of various fields of research and several documentaries. In the company of these nimble, tireless trackers you will also get to hear their unique clicking language.

Our Main Property

Our client accommodation is in a permanent safari camp, situated centrally in the hunting area. It can accommodate six guests in three chalets, each with an in-suite bathroom. Adjoining these is a comfortable lounge and dining area, swimming pool with a deck overlooking a waterhole, frequently visited by waterbuck and kudu, as well as a traditional open-sky campfire boma where the stories of the day’s hunt can be recounted over ice-cold sundowners.

The camp has electricity, as well as telephone, cellphone and wi-fi services. Meals are prepared by our full-time kitchen staff, with barbequed steaks, provided by our client hunters, are an all-time favorite.
