Zebra hunt

Hunting area Chaibis west Namibia Mountain
It is early morning, me and my client are sitting on top of a ridge in the Kos mountains
with the most beautiful view in front of us possible. The sun is just breaking the cold from
the African winters night. The different colours are amazing with different reds and brown colouring the roughed terrain below us.
We are looking for mountain zebra which is a
specie of zebra only to be found in these mountains along the western side of Namibia.
They have unbelievable sensors and are really challenging to get close to. Although they
are white and black it is still very hard to spot them in this terrain.
 I am still busy day
dreaming with my binos in front of my eyes when Torsten says there
is some movement.

Where, where  I reply getting pulled back to earth. There down below in the small dry river
bed, I spot them as well. It is a group of kudu feeding slowly up the river bed on the few
green bushes that are still left from the good rains that we have had the last season.
 Now
that I am awake again I can start looking for Zebra. After a short while I spot a small herd
standing in the morning sun also heating up from the evenings cold.
They are relaxed and
seems like a good herd to shoot from. I show them to Torsten and then we start our
decent towards them trough the countless loose rocks.
Slowly we move on as quite as
possible, testing the wind every now and again as the wind in these areas can really
mislead you.

Looking everywhere for other game that can spoil our hunt .
We get to where I think we
have to slowly go up a little ridge in order to shoot from, we stop and Torsten loads his rifle
after a short break. We start going up the ridge slowly and quietly. Reaching the top we
sneak over to some bigger stones that are scattered on top of the small ridge hiding
behind them we peep over to find the Zebra still standing and having their sun bath.

I

Look through the herd and find a good Zebra for Torsten to shoot. Second from the left
I say he sees the zebra gets a comfortable position and squeeze the trigger........And
then the hole climax of the hunt goes down as the Zebra goes down. Everything knows
now we are hear, the baboons are going crazy and in some sense the magic of the
morning is over. But still Torsten is over the moon about his Zebra, and I am glad for
him it is a nice one.
